Typology

Office Buildout

Scope

Commercial Tenant Improvement

Size

6,200 sq ft

This 6,200-square-foot office buildout in downtown San José's emerging tech corridor demanded a workspace that would attract and retain talent in a competitive market. The client — a mid-stage technology company — had outgrown their previous space and needed an environment that balanced focused individual work with fluid collaboration.

We designed and built the space around three zones: a quiet library-style heads-down area, a flexible collaboration core, and a social kitchen-lounge that anchors the social life of the office. Acoustic treatment was integrated into the architecture rather than applied as an afterthought.

The material palette deliberately avoided the tropes of tech-office design: no exposed ductwork painted in accent colors, no ping-pong tables, no primary-colored seating. Instead, warm white oak millwork, concrete floors, and carefully selected lighting create an environment that ages well and feels considered.
